Publicity
The original publishing run of Called to Hope was 100; which, I understand, has been sold out. I believe several Koorong stores have sold out of the copies they bought – only ten, but that’s because Zeus is a comparatively small publisher.
Secondly, after an article in our local newspaper, at least one Angus & Robertson store has received orders for about half-a-dozen copies; lamentably, they’re waiting until they get a few more before ordering the books from Zeus. Oh well, the lack should create demand, if I can raise awareness of the book, and a couple of good reviews should do that.

I’ve given birth to a paperback!
Yes, Called to Hope: overcoming depression is finally in hard copy form: A5 paperback actually. It can be bought from the publishers, from Angus & Robertson (although it’s not yet in stores I believe) or from Koorong Books.

It’s up and away
Well, the page is corrected and the book has begun to be sold.
Now I’m working on the marketing, contacting bookstores and whatnot to arrange getting it into stock.
Of all the stages of getting a book from mind to market, I think this is the one I’ll enjoy the most.

The day approaches – with a fresh coat of glitch
http://www.zeus-publications.com/called_to_hope.htm
Bits and pieces of the information have been taken straight from the book. I used MS Word’s indexing function – quite handy if the index is only simple – and some of the indexed words have sneaked onto the page.
You can still buy it – although I’ve not seen the proofs from the first print run, so I’d counsel waiting just in case the occurences of XE “serotonin” and the like are a glitch the publishers and printers have to sort out.

Soon to be released!
Depression drains us of energy and emotion, and fills us with despair and self-hatred.
Called to Hope gives essential information about depression, such as:
what it is – and isn’t;
how to recognise it;
why people develop it; and
how to fight it.
7 out of 10 people who commit suicide have depression. How can we know if a person is thinking about suicide – and what can we do?
Called to Hope lists contact details for crisis help lines, professional and self-help groups, websites, and depression checklists.
And moreover, what if you have a religious faith? You’re meant to be happy, right? But you aren’t. Far from it.
Called to Hope looks at the issues that affect people with a religious faith, specifically a Christian one:
should Christians even get depression;
could there be a supernatural cause – if so, is there a supernatural answer;
guilt;
the loss of assurance;
suicide and the unforgivable sin.
